I sat in on Amy Porterfield’s free Facebook marketing webinar yesterday and it was so good that I wanted to share my notes with you. If you are not familiar with Amy Porterfield she is a Facebook Marketing expert who has handled online marketing for brands like Harley Davidson and Tony Robbins. If you have not sat in on her free webinars I highly recommend doing so.
The three step process she outlined to acquire client’s from Facebook is:

The Attraction Phase
This is where you get people who are not familiar with your brand to become familiar and like your page.
Here are some simple ways that you can get people to like your page:
Add a Facebook like box to your website
Add a link to like your Facebook page to your email signature
Include your Facebook page url on your business card
Link your Facebook profile to your Facebook page.
Email your list and give them a reason to become a fan.
Add a like box to your thank you and confirmation pages.
Here are some tips for posting to your page to engage your existing fans and attract new ones:
Use pictures to tell your story. Pictures generate 53 more likes than the average posts.
The perfect image size is 403 X 403.
Use Images with text at the same time. Tell people in the image what your post is about. Use PicMonkey.com for putting text onto images.
Don’t be too corporate, people are on Facebook to make friends. Do your Facebook posts sound like you are talking to a friend?
Ask for help with something.
Ask your fans for their feedback and opinions.
Teach people how to do something.
Mix up your media – Try doing a video.
The Promotion Phase:
There are no longer text restrictions on your cover photo, so use it to promote your products and services:

Every time you upload a new cover photo it gets out into the newsfeed.
Change it for milestones in your business and little bragging things.
You can add a click here button on your timeline cover photo, which opens up your status box that you posted with the image where you can add a link into the description.
Using Facebook Ads

Use Page Post Ads. That’s an ad that starts out as a status update which you then go into the ads manager and turn it into a page post ad. Always use the power editor to put your ads in the newsfeed and not the right hand side.
Rarely send traffic from an ad directly to a sales page. Instead use Facebook ads to lead them to an opt in opportunity for your email list.
Use email marketing to promote your products and services.
Targeting is the key to your ad success.
Use precise interests to target the fan pages of your competitors or like minded businesses.
Target 250,000 to 500,000 people per ad.
You can use the search box to find out what pages the people like your pages also like type in “pages liked by people who like fitsmallbusiness”
hashtag means you are targeting the keyword and not that page. People talking about something.
Type in Favorite interest of people who like (insert your page here) to see what interests your fans have.
Average clickthrough rate is .04% for right hand side ads. The average click through rate for news feed ad is between 2 and 5 %. Use news feed ads only.
Take people out of Facebook and onto your email list in order to sell to them.
First when someone opts in to your freebie on facebook, welcome them and thank them instantly giving them access to what they paid for.
Create an email autoresponder campaign to solidify the relationship, build your authority and trust.
After a set period of time introduce them to one of your products or services.
