FitSmallBusiness.com is a fast growing NYC based startup. Our mission is to make finding the best software, services, and financing for businesses quick and easy. Due to our explosive growth, we are seeking to add a second full-time writer to our team.
Business Writer will be expected to do the following:
- Research and Review Small Business Products and Services (including testing of products, finding and interviewing experts / small business owners, and conducting online research)
- Write several articles per week (1,000 to 2,500 words) Example
- Respond to reader’s comments
- Participate as the resident business software & services expert on sites outside of FitSmallBusiness.com
In addition to honing your skills as a writer, you will have the opportunity to witness what it takes to start and run a successful company from the ground up. We believe strongly in mentorship, and you will communicate directly with a founder on a daily basis.
Who We Are
Fit Small Business is an online publication that helps small businesses choose the right software and services for their business. Partners have described us as an equivalent to Consumer Reports for small business, and we have been mentioned in The New York Times, Venturebeat, Entrepreneur.com, and other high profile publications.
Our co-founders previously played a pivotal role in growing a company from a few employees to a publicly traded company on the New York Stock Exchange, and we are seeking to repeat that success. In a little over a year, Fit Small Business has grown to over 100,000 monthly pageviews, and readership is growing at a rate of 20% per month.
Who You Are
The position requires being able to think like a business owner, and outline things in a simple and straightforward manner. The ability to work independently, and the flexibility that working for a startup demands, are both necessary to be successful in this position.
In addition, you should have:
- 3.3 GPA or better from a good college or university
- Strong interest in technology and business
- Strong Writing and Analytical Abilities
Writing experience is a bonus, but we will train the right person. Like us, we expect you to value hard work, be focused on results, and have a passion for our business.
$40,000 to $45,000 depending on background and level of experience. Opportunities for advancement limited only by our rate of growth, and your own ability.
