Hey guys, I’m planning out a business for the upcoming year. Looking out for the strategies I need to bring in. To begin with, I’m concentrating in Toronto, if it is profitable, will look forward to establishing it in other parts of the country.
When I searched it online for the different methods and strategies for starting a business in 2017, I got some information.
It is stated here:
1.Be clear of the target customers
2.Have an idea of the category
3.Gain an idea about the competitors.
4.Adopt advertising strategies.
Anything more to add to this? If I can your suggestions, it will be highly appreciated.
I have few specific queries. Listing it here:
-In Canada, where should I list my registration details?
-How much time will it take for the registration procedures to be completed?
-How is the naming of the business done in Canada?
Recently, when I asked about this to my friends, I came to know that, there exists a business name search in Ontario. And he told that, if the name suggested by us exists, they will provide options for another name without any additional charge. Is it true? I can’t waste my cash without having an idea about that. So, if you have any experience with them, kindly share it.
Your replies will be highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.August 4, 2017 at 8:06 pm #95186
It sounds like your thought process is right where it should be. Before you can start thinking seriously about a business idea, you have to know exactly who your customers will be to the point where you can visualize them and develop a persona.
You should also be able to explain:
– Why they’ll come to your business over any competitors.
– How your marketing efforts will reach this crowd, and convince them to try your business.
– Why your business location is ideal for this target marketAugust 4, 2017 at 8:20 pm #95193
We’re going to divide and conquer to give you the best help possible. Jeremy, one of our small business specialists will be getting back to you about business strategies, but because I live in Toronto I can help address your other questions.
Registering your business name is quick and easy online through Service Ontario. You can find more information here, including the ability to search for existing businesses with the same name.
You can also find additional information on things like registering your business name, incorporating your business, getting a business number, and any licenses and permits from the federal government here.
The OBC can help you with this process, but their services will be marked up. If you’re comfortable with managing the process yourself, you can do so through the government links above.
If you have any other questions about setting up your business in Canada/Ontario/Toronto, feel free to let me know!
