People who gave a negative review said they were lied to. Most negative reviewers called out the fact that the independent sales agents Harbortouch hires to sell their products are not transparent enough. They also complained that there is a $250 early termination fee.

They wanted to cancel earlier but were afraid of that very same early termination fee. Harbortouch told the user that since the contract automatically renewed for another 2 years, it was already considered early termination if they tried to cancel post term. They felt that Harbortouch takes money from their clients at every opportunity.

Harbortouch offers two types of POS subscriptions: Echo POS, and Elite POS. Echo POS is geared more toward small retail businesses, bazaars, and kiosks. Elite POS has specific features that caters to chain restaurants, bars, salons, and medium to large retail businesses. Additional costs include $7 a month for your Harbortouch merchant account, $99 a year for PCI compliance, and a $79 a year service fee.
Most of the hardware needed for a working POS terminal is included in each POS plan. A cash drawer, receipt printer, keyboard, employee cards, and integrated customer display is included in both the Echo POS and the Elite POS plans. What makes the Elite POS hardware different is the addition of a free barcode scanner for retail businesses or more employee cards for restaurants.
Though payments are made monthly, clients are required to sign on for a 3-year contract that automatically renews for another 2 years at the end of term. You can choose to cancel renewal within 30 days before the 3-year term ends. If you cancel any earlier than those 30 days, you will be charged $250 plus the total monthly fees for the remainder of the canceled term. Canceling beyond the 30-day period will also result in the same charges.
Best Pricing Option for Small Business Owners
Echo POS is a good option if you’re a small business with only a handful of employees and a less extensive inventory. But if you want a more specific set of tools for your retail or restaurant business, as well as dedicated customer support, there’s more value in the Elite POS plan.
