What does the company do well? Paycor's strongpoint is the ease of payroll processing. The actual processing of a payroll cannot get any easier than it is in Paycor. My boss (who has never processed a payroll in her life nor had any training) could sit down at her computer and process a payroll in Paycor! We absolutely LOVED this about Paycor!
What does the company not do well? Paycor's reporting leaves a lot to be desired. They have only about 50 canned reports (as opposed to hundreds with other companies). Many of their canned reports cannot be customized. Paycor does not have ad-hoc reporting. There were many, many reports that were standard reports with rival companies that we could not access with Paycor. They do not offer a W2 preview report which is crazy. Right before we left them, (we left them last month) after working on this concept for 5 years, they finally came out with a "W2 preview" report. When I ran that report, it was a monstrous spreadsheet, impossible to easily review. I don't know why it took them 5 years to be able to export that data into a spreadsheet. Every other HRIS system I have used has provided a W2 preview report that looks like the actual W2, making it easy to review and/or correct.
What do you wish you had known about the company before using? I wish I had known the limitations of the reporting. The system is incredibly limited in this manner. Another example is that the labor allocation setups are linked to many reports that should not be. Such as voluntary deduction reports. The system applies labor allocation to deduction reports such as 401k loan reports. That makes no sense and caused issues when uploading that information to our 401k administrator. When we brought that to Paycor's attention, they could not change that for us. There were many system limitations such as this that caused a lot of extra work for our department.
