What does the software or service do well?
Printful is a solution for those who want a print on demand option for clothing, accessories, and household items. They provide an easy to use interface that seamlessly integrates with selling tools and storefronts. As a user, Printful has been my tool for providing branded merchandise for my membership organization. I integrated it with Shopify to provide members with a discount code they could use to get their free items when they joined. I have also played around with their Weebly integration as well, but chose Shopify for its ease of use and easy discount codes. By connecting with Shopify it's an instant platform that handles everything for you. All you need to do is advertise the products and manage customer service when needed on rare occasion. In addition I worked with Printful for my brand photography hiring one of their preferred vendors for a model photo shoot, which went well and was affordable.
What does the software or service not do well?
Printful is not a platform priced well for bulk orders as the pricing is quite high. They do provide a 20% discount for a few sample orders each month, but otherwise the pricing isn't reasonable for things like event marketing. Printful also does not provide the kinds of items you would purchase for tradeshows and giveaways.
What do you wish you had known about the software or service before using?
I've been a user of Printful for 1.5-2 years now, so some of the things I initially had challenges with have since been resolved. The company has continued to improve and I appreciate their notifications each time upgrades are made to the service quality and options,
Have you used a competitor to the software or service? If so, how does it compare?
Many years ago I used a tool called CafePress, but what Printful offers is far superior thanks to the many integrations they can provide. When I went looking for a strategy to provide branded merchandise I looked at a number of print on demand suppliers, but settled on Printful because of the options available to create a system I could set and forget while having more control over the process and branding.
