What does Constant Contact do well? Constant Contact does a nice job with customer service and helping their clients understand what is really going on with their accounts. Others, including Mailchimp (my favorite), are sometimes non-committal about deliverability. Not so Constant Contact, which also has a good supply of templates.
What does Constant Contact not do well? The user interface for email design is a little clunky and dated. The onboard reporting is not easy to use and its built integration choices are small.
What do you wish you had known about Constant Contact before using? Constant Contact does not do a good job working with micro-organizations. A competitor like Mailchimp offers orgs a free account for under 2,000 contacts. For those orgs, it doesn't make good sense to pay Constant Contact.
Have you used a competitor to Constant Contact? If so, how does it compare? I've used multiple email platforms. Many are more technical, some like Mailchimp, are designed for much smaller orgs. I view Constant Contact as a solid one trick pony. It gets the email job done at a decent price, but there are better offerings if you have different needs than those offered by this average service.
