What does Square do well?
Even for the most computer illiterate, square makes things about as plug and play as you can get! Create an account, choose your reader, enter your banking info, they do a test transaction, and you're good to start taking payments! You can set up presets for products, bundles, discounts, or manually key in amounts. Set tax rates, custom tiers of customers, etc. Super easy for any small business
What does Square not do well?
Unfortunately they need to take their piece of the pie too, which isn't ideal to come out of my cut, so I'm a little biased, but I guess the conveniene of being able to take debit (with tap processor only) or credit with the swipe is worth the percentage they take.
What do you wish you had known about Square before using?
Whether or not paying the few extra bucks up front was worth the tap/debit processor or not. (hint...it is!)
Have you used a competitor to Square? If so, how does it compare?
I tried Shopify POS for a while, but was more cumbersome and overkill for what I needed. This is a simlified, lighter version that does exactly what I need.
