Best Free accounting apps; Wave vs Quickbooks
Dear Christina, I’m a one woman home operating business, Is Wave the choice for me?
I’m assuming you are in US. I’m from Canada and here Wave is offered for free through Royal Bank. Being in US and having all your invoices issued in USD makes Wave a good choice for you.
You can automate and keep track of all your transactions inside Wave, after you connect your back account(s). You can customize your own categories to get specific reports at the end of the month/year.
You can also create and send invoices, and get paid online using Wave.
Quickbooks offers similar features (invoices, payments, categories, reports), but it is a bit more expensive, depending on the plan you select. You probably will need the self-employed version.
All the best,
Hi Wendy, thank you for your question regarding Wave. Without having any additional information about what you sell and the type of business you have, it’s difficult to say whether or not Wave will work for you. However, what I can say is Wave a great software to use if you are a service-based business that pays most of their expenses online or with a credit card. Unfortunately, Wave cannot track inventory, track unpaid bills or write checks. If you need to any of these features, you should choose QuickBooks Online.
Best of luck,
Crystalynn Shelton, CPA
