What’s your recommendation for a POS for a small Food Truck?
Is there a reason you did not included TouchBistro as a POS?
TouchBistro is great and we cover it in another roundup of best POS systems for restaurants. For the cost, it might be overkill for a food truck operation. Square is really popular for food truck use. I was at a free concert just last weekend and all but one of the food trucks there used Square. I asked how it’s working for them (as I always do) and all were pleased. Notable benefits that Square has over the others are a free account (just pay the CC fees), unlimited users and devices for no added fees, and you can use on most any mobile device, so your upfront costs can be $0. Plus, it has an offline mode which is something that few others offer. This allows you to accept credit card payments without an internet, Wifi, or cellular connection. When the connection is reestablished, the charges are processed. Of course, there’s the possibility of a decline after the customer is gone, but generally, the benefit outweighs that small percentage of bad charges.
Most POS systems have free trials, so you can test drive them before deciding. Good luck!
