I have been the sole business administrator at a small firm since 2005 and am looking to coming out to work as a freelance bookkeeper. I do not have any formal education in Bookkeeping or Accounting but have lots of experience. Which is the better certification path for me – NACPB or AIPB? Thank you.
Hi Jacqueline, congratulations on making the decision to be a freelance bookkeeper! The AIPB certification is ideal for someone like you that has a ton of work experience in the field but no formal education. I’ve written an article that includes both of these certifications and a few other options. I don’t know if you have already seen it but if not I’ve included the link below along with a couple of other articles that I think you might be interested in.
Best of luck in your new bookkeeping business!

Thank you, Crystalynn. This is a big step for me. I am currently working on my Quickbooks certification and will do the AIPB next.
