Book signing event approaching
I”m a published author of my book From the other side of the. It”s the tale of a street racing ruffian and an affluent girl’s relationship that’s denounced by her real estate tycoon father who does everything in his power to keep them apart. I have a book signing at Queens College in Flushing, New york on May orh. How do i go about getting the loc a l media to cover my event. And plus, i w a nt lots of people to show up for the event as well.
Happy to provide some advice here, on behalf of Maggie. With any promotional event like a book signing, you’ll definitely want a Facebook event with as many friends and family attending as you can invite. This will help start the “snowball” effect of more people RSVP’ing when they see a large crowd attending.
You can also promote your Facebook event to specific users (e.g. Queens College students, or fans of the same fiction genre as your book). We have a guide on Facebook advertising that explains how to set up these targeted ads.
Other strategies you can try include posting flyers around the college, nearby neighborhood, and other bookstores nearby. You can also get in touch with the local paper, but the sooner the better. Local newspapers are usually excited to cover events like this, but need 5-6 weeks advance notice to get things properly scheduled.
