Thank you for your question. If you are considering becoming a certified bookkeeper without work experience, you may want to consider the National Association of Certified Public Bookkeepers (NACPB). The NACPB offers two paths to obtain a bookkeeper license. The Education path requires you to have a bookkeeper certificate, an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting. By contrast, the Work Experience path does not require you to have a formal education, but it does require at least two years (or 4,000 hours) of work experience as a bookkeeper or accountant. You can not only do what Catherine mentioned above, but you can take the QuickBooks Online Accountant course and QuickBooks Online certification course and become a certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor. Best of all, it’s FREE! (yay!) You can find out more information here: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/accountants/training-certification/. I would also recommend joining bookkeeping groups on Facebook. There are several, and everyone in them are extremely friendly and helpful! Best of luck!
