I specialized in legal assistance services. I’m planning to start my paralegal business soon. I think the law is one of the best tools we have to keep our world safe and enjoyable. But I heard that being in paralegal is a very stressful job. Can a newbie in paralegal succeed as a freelancer ? Could anyone share your experience?
I have a business as a legal document assistant and the industry is very hot. The dif bet an LDA & paralegal is that an LDA can work as ind cont without the supervision of an attorney which a paralegal requires. There are still requirements for registration, licensing & bonding but that is not that exp or wait for. There are certain legal areas that can be done as an independent LDA & certain states have dif requirements. Best for me was to consult the Am Bar Assoc. Very helpful with information. I joined as an “associate” instead of an attorney & def adds to credentials also be sure to include a legal disclaimer on cards & other advertising that states you are not an attorney & can not offer legal advise. Speaking another language big plus too. Best of luck!
I have not had any personal experience in the paralegal freelancing world. So, the advice or help I can give is limited. But, others like Monica should be able to help you. Best of luck!!
