Can I Download POS Data to an Excel Spreadsheet?
Hello !! I completely understand that POS systems can generate many different types of reports. However, I will need to download all of the POS data to an Excel Spreadsheet because I constantly change how I analyze the data by applying different metrics and ratios. I would need the downloaded data to be in columns with descriptions on top of each column. Please advise.
Thank you in advance.. AJ3 Replies

Great question. It depends on what specific POS program you are using. Most of them have options to download data into excel spreadsheets. Just about any POS will let you download inventory and sales data, for example. If you’re not settled on a specific system yet, I would suggest looking into Lightspeed. They have a super robust custom report builder that allows you to manipulate all of the data pretty much anyway you want without having to download raw data and run calculations yourself. But if you prefer, Lightspeed also lets you download everything into an excel spreadsheet.
Let me know if you have any other questions!

Each POS software will have slightly different features and capabilities but most should have a way to download in some format. You’re probably more likely to be able to download to a .txt or .csv format. Both of these can be imported into Excel so you can analyze your data.3 Replies
