I just employed a new girl on a 90 day probation period I have discussed with her office attire. My question I am just looking for examples to present to her since it seems she must not understand the work office attire I have verbal told her is there samples i can show her that she may understand?August 24, 2018 at 3:08 pm #238261
Once employees hear the word ‘casual’ they may interpret it as beach or lounge wear, instead of ‘business-casual’ which is really a bit more covered up.
A quick google search of “casual work attire examples” pulled up many photo images. You might consider choosing 2-3 that illustrate the look you’re going for. Print them out or view them online together with her. Here’s an example from Youtube.
I tell employees that if it’s something they would wear at the beach, wear to sleep or go out partying in, it’s not going to be appropriate for work. This includes clothing that’s too tight, too revealing, ripped, dirty or ill-fitting.
Here’s an article you may want to print and share with her. If all else fails, remind her that what she wears represents you and your business brand. If after a warning or two she fails to adapt, you may need to consider providing her a uniform (slacks/polo shirt/flat shoes) or being very specific about what can be worn, rather than what can’t. Many businesses, from service to restaurants and retail do exactly that.
