I enjoy reading Kent’s articles.
Unfortunately I could not locate following topic.
Is there contractors liability insurance that will cover contractor’s employee’s bodily injuries?
If insurance companies exclude such paragraph, homeowner is under serious risk
in case of lawsuit by injured contractor’s employee.
This is a great question.
A homeowner should have homeowner’s insurance that covers their property and includes liability. It often has a small amount of medical coverage for injuries that occur on the property.
However, the insurance a contractor needs to protect their employees from physical harm on the job is workers compensation insurance. A homeowner concerned about hiring a contractor would want to ensure the contractor has both liability insurance and that the contractor also provides workers compensation, should a workplace injury occur on their property while contractors workers are on the job.
Here are some articles to help. A search of “contractors insurance” on our site will provide additional articles based on industry type, such as painters, etc.
