At our small nonprofit organization a word press website was created buy a web design company. It was significantly reconfigured to accommodate being used by a total novice. 5 years later this is now totally unacceptable and I would like to redo our site. Returning to the design company is not an option. I would appreciate your thoughts. Our web site is Trotarizona.org. Thanks1 Reply

Well, on first glance, the site is very clean and seems to do the job — and once set up, even a highly custom theme like this one is easily managed and updated by a novice. If you want to just improve on what you have, you’ll need to find a WordPress designer to make any changes to this custom template — Fiverr.com is a great listing for freelancers that can help.
If you want an overhaul, I’d start by assessing the site and listing in detail what it doesn’t do for you and what you hope to achieve by a total redesign. Sometimes, when you break down the specific functionality and design details of what is and isn’t working, you can find that a complete costly and time-consuming overhaul isn’t needed. A few alterations by a freelancer can often deliver what you need — especially on WordPress where pretty much anything is possible with a few theme alterations.
BTW, I’m affiliated with SIRE in the Houston, Tx., area. The SIRE wesite is pretty similar to yours in the essentials and works well.
Hope this helps, good luck!
