Does your employer have to cash you out for your sick time when you leave a job?
My husband has earned quite a bit of sick time, he is getting another job! Does his current employer have to cash him out for the sick time he has earned?
The law varies by state. First recommendations would be to review the policy your employer has about paid time off/ sick leave.
If we are discussing Oregon specifically then no, they are not required to pay out sick time for employee’s that leave their company.
Q. Is an employer required to pay for unused sick time when an employee leaves employment?
A. No, the law is clear; an employer is not required to pay an employee for unused accrued sick time upon termination.
