FUI/SUI employer liability – Multiple employers
If an employee switches employers during the year without collecting unemployment and after the total unemployment taxes have been paid by their previous employer (meaning, they hit the maximum salary limits for those liabilities), does the new employer have to pay for FUI and SUI for that year on their wages?
I believe the answer would be Yes — you would still need to pay FUI/SUI for that employee, but I cannot say for certain. I recommend asking your payroll provider, CPA, or another certified expert.
