Fulfillment service for business with low-order volume
Sharing a question we were asked by a reader:
I work for a small, niche beauty products company. I read your article “Order Fulfillment Services: Who’s the Best?” which was very helpful for me, and I want to ask your advice on choosing a fulfillment service for our company.
We’re located in the North of the Netherlands, yet our second largest customer base is the USA. We currently ship our products directly to our US customers from the Netherlands, which takes some time. I want to improve our service by using a fulfillment company, who can store and ship our products to our customers directly from a location in the states.
We are quite small, so we only require about 2 cubic meters of storage space and would expect to ship out about 5-10 products per month to customers across the US.
Do you have any advice on fulfillment companies to contact?
I would recommend Fulfillment.com. They are very good for small businesses with low order volumes.
Many providers won’t serve your business unless you have a certain number of orders per month. Others, like Shipwire, will offer service, but they’ll charge higher rates if you don’t pass a certain threshold. Fulfillment.com, on the other hand, charges roughly the same rate whether you ship 10 or 1000 products per month, so you won’t have to spend a fortune with a low order volume.
The exception is if you’re selling products on Amazon’s webstore – then Amazon fulfillment is the best choice.
Hope that helps! Let me know if there are any other questions or concerns.
