Fully deductible as a repair?
Just has to pay around $6,000.00 for my rental home as the sewer line had roots in it and was causing sewage to back up into the house. The contractor will be doing an emergency replacement of the sewer line portion from the house to the street sewer.
Thanks for your question and I’m so sorry to hear about your expensive sewer line repair. I’m glad you were able to get it fixed. The repair was necessary for the proper operation of your rental property and it’s not considered an improvement so yes it can generally be deductible as a repair. However, it’s best to consult with your tax professional so you deduct it properly. All the best,
