How do I import a category as part of my bank transaction import in QBO?
I would like to assign a category to my bank transactions within the csv file before uploading it for review into QBO. Is this possible? If not possible via CSV upload is there another format I can use that will accommodate this?

Hey Talitha, awesome question! Unfortunately you cannot import a category for your banking transactions. It is limited to three key fields: date, description and amount. However, what you can do is set up bank rules in QuickBooks Online. For example, you can set up a rule that says “if TMobile appears in the description, code it to cell phone expense”. Do this for all of your recurring transactions and QuickBooks will automatically apply the categories going forward.
To learn how to set up bank rules, just go to the help menu and type in bank rules. It is very easy to figure out.
