How to use QBO for church?
I have purchased the trial for our church mission treasury. Basically, I’m collecting offerings and sending to various missionaries. Are the offerings of customers or vendors? Are the missionaries customers of vendors? Thanks for your time, Jane Janzen
Hi Jane, this is a terrific question! When it comes to nonprofit organizations like a church, your donors are considered “customers” in QuickBooks. You will set them up in the customer center. Anyone that you pay such as utility companies or 1099 contractors will be setup as vendors in QuickBooks. If you pay missionaries but they are not employees, you will set them up as 1099 vendors. Anyone that gets paid $600 or more in a calendar year you will need to provide a 1099 form. I have included a link to an article on 1099 reporting below:
Best of luck,
