Is a dba name the "companyname" or is it the "legal name"?
Is a dba name the “company name” or is it the “legal name”?
DBA stands for “doing business as.” Essentially, it would be the company name that you would use with the public. IE, the name on your website, business cards, etc.
For example, let’s say your business was incorporated as “Denny’s Drywall LLC,” but then you wanted to expand into other construction as well. Your legal name would be the same, but you could have a DBA like Denny’s Drywall and Construction,” or just “Denny’s Construction.”
Hope that helps!
