I want to know if my cellular company is required to pass on a 3% federal tax to the end user or if this is just something that is optional?
We pass on a 6% local tax and a 3% federal tax, so overall the customer has a bill and then we add 9% onto it
A Nationwide plan is $35.99 a month. after the 9% tax their monthly bill is $39.23
So if we chose to-to lower our bills for our customers, could we remove the federal excise tax of 3%? or would this get us in trouble?
If your company wants to reduce your customer’s bills by the amount of the federal tax, we would recommend that the tax still be listed and itemized so as to avoid any potential confusion — either on your customer’s part or the government’s.
