Hello,
I have been tasked with finding an org chart software that will be based on Position not the employee and include staffing numbers per position as well as their connection in the flow chart. We will have between 20-50 employees. I am looking at free as well as paid offerings. Do you have any suggestions that may offer this and be compatible with Excel? I am swimming in a big Google ocean on this and would appreciate any guidance.
Thank you,
Lynore Reiseck1 ReplyHi Lenore,
I feel your pain! The good news is that many of the paid org chart programs will allow you to build your org chart by position, as well as customize the fields you use, (so you can name the position, or even have a field that says something like ‘filled’ vs ‘open,’ without naming names.)
Given what you’re looking for, and the number of employees, and need to sum up, you might consider Insperity Org Plus https://app.fitsmallbusiness.com/goto/insperity-org-plus/
Below are comparisons of the top 5 org chart options. I found Org Plus easier to use, imports to/from Excel and does the math for you. I’ve attached 3 articles to help you in your choice. You may want to print the first article below when you present your recommendation (I find that Execs like to see WHY you chose an option.)
Laura, SPHR, MAEd, HR Writerp.s. Another option might be to use CHART software that has Org chart features. If you go that route, the one I’d recommend is SmartDraw https://app.fitsmallbusiness.com/goto/smartdraw/. HR folks rave about it’s org chart options, and it’s a 2 for one (you get charting software too, so your reports will look awesome!)
