We are a small contracting business. We currently use QB Enterprise 2015, however we do not need all features of the Enterprise version. (One of the partners had a QBE15 from his previous business and we continued using it.)
We do not track inventory and payroll is outsourced. Mostly we use QB for quoting and invoicing. (We need to be able to handle multiple sales tax rates.)
1. What version of QB Online would we need?
2. Is it possible to import our existing file into the online version of QB?
I would appreciate your opinion.
If you just need QuickBooks to do invoicing, quotes and track sales tax then QuickBooks Online Essentials should work for you. Below is a link to step by step instructions that Intuit has on their support site about importing your QuickBooks Desktop file into QuickBooks Online.
I also believe that Intuit will walk you through these steps for free if you just call their customer support team. You can reach them at 1-888-333-3451.
Best of luck,
