Multiple services–are they needed?
We are a small nonprofit; IT and web is all voulunteer with many hands involved…and a mixed history. We have had our website for about 11 years with several updates along the way. We started with our domain name from Easyspace and our Host is Ipage; we had a template from CrowdFavorite that died and so we went with a WordPress build. However, we are looking at Wix to do an update as my skill in WordPress (and any of this) is limited and our site is pretty outdated in form.
Question- we want to keep I-page and Easyspace (for domain) but then we would have to pay for Wix too right? So it seems to be overpaying or multiple services that we should somehow combine…any suggestions?
Okay… biggest answer, one service is preferable for ease of tracking and management, but you can certainly have a domain one place that points to another. That’s done all the time and I do it myself. So, first question, do you know if you own your domain name through Easyspace? If you do, you can point it to a new site on Wix, Weebly or whatever website builder you prefer.
However, Easyspace has full hosting plans, too, including WordPress if you want to give it another crack. You can easily migrate your iPage site to an Easyspace plan, they should be able to help you with that, then apply a new easy-to-manage template. That might be easier than a total platform change — plus WordPress is an infinitely better platform if you have any growth plans for your site.
If you prefer Wix or Weebly, then you can migrate or just rebuild the site there then point your domain to the site when it’s ready to go.
I know this is the long answer, if you have any follow-up questions, just let me know.
