I’m planning to start a unisex salon near my place. It’s a joint venture along with my friend’s, and we all are just out of college, so we all are pretty new to this and just have a basic idea about business. But we confident of ourselves that we can make it a success. We want to advertise our salon, something like outdoor marketing. I have seen the ad’s of salon’s on mobile billboard vehicles, so was thinking of doing something similar. But since I’m new to this, don’t know how to go about with this. Is this a good idea and will be effective? Any other ideas? Please help this newbie. Many thanks.4 Replies

A typical way to calculate outdoor advertising costs is the cost per impression – or view of your ad. CPM is the cost per 1,000 impressions. Typically you pay about $3-$5 per 1,000 impressions of a billboard or outdoor advertisement.
For a mobile billboard, you want to pay close attention to the CPM. Circulation isn’t the same as an impression… a mobile billboard might be circulated to more people than a static one, since a mobile billboard can move to high traffic areas throughout the day, but how high-quality are those views? Are people looking at it long enough for it to count as an “impression?”
Most advertising companies should be able to tell you the number of impressions specifically – so make sure you’re using this to negotiate price.

It’s quite simple, just rich in unique content with good keywords but layed out naturally. I started this 3 weeks ago, and made a website, did a little bit of optimizing, coupled with a little bit of advertising, now getting 3+ calls a day asking for services.
Online advertising on reputable sites such as Facebook, google, bing, etc will allow you to target a relevant audience based on interest, age, male or female, Etc. In turn boosting your ROI (Return on Investment).
Advertising can be trickier to gauge that metric. but I do know that you would have a smaller ROI if the majority of your Salon company ad was targeting ages 65+ opposed to 18-34. That is quite intuitive right?
With a billboard ad your not going to be able to control that target audience.
That is where I start to lean towards online advertising, because of the ability to reach out to more people in the area, and target a very specific audience that will be more relevant.
Another route to get free advertising is have someone build you a website with rich and authoritative content. Additionally couple that with traffic coming in through advertising and google will begin to see that this site deserves to be seen and will rank it higher in its search.
There area many ways to go about making your business seen, but with todays technology, finding a reputable platform that already has a million plus followers and advertise with them is the easiest and most efficient way to get your company seen.

As a new business, be sure to spend time on your online presence, but you shouldn’t need to hire an SEO marketer. Just keep it simple and focus on a few key things. You’ll have success with SEO if you target your keywords on your website and have active content. Some tips, try to create a blog on your website so that you can constantly have new content on their site, which Google loves. You can then link this content with your social media accounts. Be sure to have your keywords in your H1 and H2 headings, and first paragraph. Lastly, try to target an even more local area than a city, since most people are looking for a certain area within the city. Maybe use a certain neighborhood or suburb as your keyword.
