What percent of microbusinesses (0-4 emp) are white collar vs blue collar?
I’m trying to sort out the micro business category in to sub groups based on what they do. I have a lot of data about small business but micro business is an under reported group. This group has a lot of lawyers, accountants and freelancers but I’m specifically interested in sweat equity based businesses. An NAICS code break down would be great. It would also be nice to split out companies with more than 25K in revenue. A very large part of this group has no revenue. Any ideas, suggestions or directions would be very helpful.
Hi, see this report (PDF) commissioned by the Association for Enterprise Opportunity (AEO). It has a lot of data about microbusinesses, including industry and sector data.
From Page 13: “The highest proportion of microbusinesses were in Professional, Scientific, and Technical Services (16.06 percent); followed by Construction (14.95 percent); and Retail Trade (11.88 percent)”
