I am currently a licensed agent in New York looking to get licensed in SC. My family will be moving there in two years and I would like to start getting prepared. Is SC a reciprocal state or do I need to take their state exam. Thank you!
Hi April –
Currently, New York does not seem to have reciprocity with South Carolina, but does have reciprocity with Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Be sure to call the South Carolina Real Estate Commission to do a quick double check, and ask about how to proceed – they are usually happy to give guidance to incoming agents!
