Service charge on sub total and GST on subtotal and service charge
My question is in the service industry, we manage a restaurant the goods we sell are subject to GST and on top of that all the service we provide are subject to 5% Service charge. In the Net collected is
S/C5% = 5
How can I create an invoice in QB online in this way?
My apologies for the delayed response. However, you posted a question that actually stumped me and I had to do a bit of research to see if what you want to do is possible in QuickBooks Online. So the GST part is easy. You can set GST up as a sales tax item in QBO and have it calculate based on the invoice subtotal. However, the service charge as a percentage is the tricky part. Unfortunately, there is no easy way to do this in QuickBooks Online. It’s a manual process that requires you to set up service charge as a non-inventory part and then you will have to manually calculate it.
I recommend that you contact the Intuit support team to see if they have an alternative solution for you. If you find a way to do this in QBO that is not manual, please don’t hesitate to let us know. I’m sure there are other small businesses like yourself that have encountered this issue.
Best of luck,
