sick time off with Drs note
Hello i work for a financial company for the last 24yrs we have been short in personal/stuff witch make difficult any time some one call in sick . because it takes a toll in everyone else i guess all the employees we are getting used to work in this not to healthy environment me personally i do it b/c i care for my coworkers so i just do it and is getting stressful … couple wks ago i went to doctors office it was a Wednesday he gave me time off for my stress, i work on friday so took my Drs note i should even be working that day although i did & gave to my manager my doctors note my manager was going on vacation the fallowing week i heard when she said i”i have no body to cover her hrs..idk what to do” so i aproceh her and told her what can i do how can i help im sorry i know is never a good timing but how can i help? if you want i will wrk next wk ? (it should be my week off /sick time off) so she manager agree & i end it wrkg the following week i know i offer but i felt bad for my manager & i didnt want her to be worry about wrk during her vacation so i came to wrk 🙁 i went for a follow up with my Dr he really emphases i must take my time off wk off so by the ende of that week i told my supervisor that i really need a wk off/sick time off so i took the following wk after manager got back from her vac…the sad part is that now i see her been upset at me for taking my week off she called on monday of my week off & told me im schedule to wrk that sat i told her i wont be in town so iwont be able and that im in sick/time off that she has Drs note. but her tone of voice change telling me that i was schedule that she didnt have anybody to do ATMS i said sorry bur im off with a Drs not that i wont be able she was rude & star telling me that i should not volunteer anymore it make me feel so sad and uncomfortable i really dont understand why the company doent have enough personal we employees are human & things happens she make me feel like piece of furniture like im not entitle for my time off even with drs note 🙁 am i wrong what shoud i do?

While we can’t control the emotions of our managers, we can educate them about labor law and employment practices. If there is an HR department, consider scheduling an appointment to talk through your concerns. It sounds as if you did everything correctly, however, your manager (who may also be stressed) reacted poorly to the situation.
