I am a comedian and I am trying to start a Facebook page using my business name “Mama Gumbo”…..
1) can I automatically convert my personal page to a business page, change the name to Mama Gumbo and automatically bring all of my original friends over to my Business Page? Or
2) will I need to start a business page called “Mama Gumbo” and invite my current friends to “like” my business page?
Most people start a business page for several reasons. First, you probably will want to keep your personal and “personality” life somewhat separate at some point. Plus, a business page can do many things that a personal profile page can’t do. Fans can follow it, you can connect a store (for all of those fabulous Mama Gumbo t-shirts you’ll want to sell someday!), create events and publish a calendar to let your fans know where you’ll be performing — and of course, promote posts and manage paid ad campaigns.
You can launch your business page and invite your friends to follow it at first. But over time, it’s smart to share some or all of your business page posts onto your personal Facebook page. This gives your business posts an added boost to your personal network of Facebook friends.
This is the typical way that Facebook marketing is handled for a personality or celeb business. Hope this helps, good luck!!
