I am planning to get a real estate salesperson/broker license. It will be my fist license.
My question is:
Do I need to be a US citizen to take the state and nation parts of the exam? Or my “legally present alien” status is enough? I am not a US citizen but I have a ten-year B1 visa.
Could you please inform me about it? It is very important for me. Thank you.
This will vary from state to state, but I am fairly sure that in most states you can get your license as a permanent resident. For example, in New York State you can get your license if you are a citizen, or an “alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence in the Unites States. I am not sure if that applies to your particular VISA, so I would call the bureau of real estate in your state to confirm.
