What courses should I take in college?
Hi I am very interested in learning how flip houses. I have no experience in this field but I feel it might be a good fit for me. I was wondering if you could assist me in the right direction as to what kind of college courses I might need to take to learn this trait? I found your article to be very very interesting and very helpful. Thank you in advance.
Thanks for visiting our site and posting on the forum. I’m so glad you enjoyed our article on flipping houses. In terms of college courses, most colleges don’t specifically offer classes on how to flip real estate. If your college offers a real estate degree, then I would suggest the classes required for that curriculum. If your college doesn’t offer that, then business classes will be helpful including marketing, entrepreneurship, accounting, and economics. You could also enroll in real estate school and take classes to get your real estate license which is helpful in negotiating offers, writing up contracts and knowing the property inventory in your market. Here’s an article on house flipping business plans and one on the costs to flip a house that I think you will find helpful. We have a lot more fresh content in our real estate investing section too.
All the best,
Allison is our expert on flipping houses and her advice is spot on!
I also found it helpful to take an entry-level construction course at the community college (construction 101). It helped me with basic jargon when hiring contractors and kept them from taking advantage of me. I was able to ask knowledgeable questions about plumbing, roofing, cement cutting, tile, drywall and other repairs and renovations needed for the flip.
