What if none of the “detail type” doesn’t match the account .
I can’t figure out what options I have if the detail type doesn’t seem to match the account while setting up the Chart of Accounts. For example, amortization expense…what “detail type” would that be?
Hi Maureen, great question! The first field in the chart of accounts setup, Account Type will dictate the options you have to choose from in the Detailed Type field. For example, if you select “Fixed Assets” in the Account Type field, you get several detailed type options such as “Accumulated Amortization” or “Accumulated Depreciation”.
If you can’t find an “exact match”, its fine. What’s more important is what you select in the account type field since that will determine what financial statement it appears on.
