Workers Compensation even though I don’t have employees
I have one client that is requiring me to have Workers Comp… I don’t ever plan on hiring anyone since I’m strictly only doing handyman work…. This is in the state of Florida, what is the minimum I can expect to pay annually for a Insurance Policy for Workman Comp.??
Sincerely, Richard H. Johnson
Florida law is unique in terms of requiring workers compensation if you are a self-employed contractor. Here are details from a Florida attorney: https://www.myfloridacfo.com/division/wc/employer/faq.htm
Your best option is to ask other independent contractors in your area who they use for W/C insurance, and what rates they pay, as an insurance agent in Florida is most likely to be able to give you a decent rate. Laura, HR
