What Upwork does well:
According to the positive reviews online, Upwork is reliable when it comes to end product security because of their escrow-based payment system and time-tracked work platform. They also have a ratings system that allows clients to see which freelancers are highly-rated.
What Upwork does not do well:
According to negative reviews, Upwork has some issues with their payment plans. Aside from that, some users feel that Upwork does not have a vetting process for the skills of the freelancers in the platform.

According to one review on Trustpilot, the client posted a job on Upwork and was impressed that he could suggest parameters like time tracking and was able to choose a freelancer based on their own terms. The client commended Upwork for connecting him with an ideal candidate — one of the many professional experts who applied for the job.
Most Helpful Negative User Review
One negative reviewer on G2 Crowd said that she preferred the old platform (Odesk) before it was merged with Elance and became Upwork. She claims that the quality of service has decreased, while the fees have increased. She believes that there is an increasing number of scams in the platform. She also complained that the customer service team was slow in responding to the fraud complaints she filed.
