Business owners with significant deposit funds can get Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. (FDIC) coverage of up to $150 million.

When Axos Bank Is a Good Fit

  • You make more than six transactions on savings accounts regularly: While most banks limit businesses to six transactions per month, Axos Bank allows 20 monthly transactions, which include debits, credits, and deposited items. The fee for exceeding the limit is affordable at 30 cents per item.
  • You need a merchant services partner: Customers can access Automated Clearing House (ACH) and billing solutions, point-of-sale (POS) terminals and equipment, mobile commerce, ecommerce solutions, check acceptance, and other merchant services.
  • Your savings deposit exceeds $250,000: Although the standard FDIC insurance is only $250,000, Axos Bank provides up to $150 million in FDIC insurance through IntraFi® Network DepositsSM, where funds are spread out to partner banks for greater insurance protection coverage.

When To Choose an Axos Bank Alternative

  • You prefer in-person banking: Axos Bank does not have physical branches. For wide branch availability, we recommend Chase, which has brick-and-mortar stores in all 48 mainland states. Read our Chase Business Complete Banking review for a brief rundown of the company’s banking products.
  • You rely on wire transfers: Although Axos Bank has no fees for incoming wire transfers, its charges for outgoing wire transfers are a steep $15 for domestic and $50 for international. Under the financial technology (fintech) solution Mercury, all domestic wire transfers are free. See our review of Mercury business checking to learn more about its fee-free features.
  • You want competitive interest rates: With an APY of 0.20%, Axos Bank Business Savings accounts earn interest at a lower rate than other online-only banks on the market. A good alternative would be Live Oak Bank, which provides interest at a rate of 3.15%. Our Live Oak Bank business savings review provides more product details.

Axos Bank Business Savings Account Features

Axos Bank has Business Savings and Business Premium Savings accounts. Both offer a 0.20% variable interest rate and digital banking options with remote check deposit functionality.

Welcome Bonus

Axos Bank extends a welcome bonus of up to $600 to new customers meeting new account requirements before June 30, 2026. To qualify, you must apply and be approved for a Business Premium Savings account and a Basic Business Checking account through a single application to bundle both accounts. Enter promo code SBB600 during the application process and meet qualifing transactions.

To qualify, an eligible business must meet the following requirements in each qualification period:
· Deposit $1,000 or more via ACH, check, or wire into their Basic Business Checking account from an external source
· Use the debit card associated with their Basic Business Checking account to make 2 or more approved purchases of at least $50 for each transaction
· Maintain an average daily balance of at least $1,500 in the Basic Business Checking account
· Maintain an average daily balance of at least $50,000 in the Business Premium Savings account

The qualification period begins on the first business day of the month and runs through the 25th of the month. If the 25th of the month is followed by a non-business day, the average daily balance will be calculated including the following non-business day(s). Any qualifying deposits received after the 25th of the month will count toward the next Qualification Period. The Qualification Period for new accounts will begin on the day the account is approved.

0.20% APY Rate

Both Business Savings and Business Premium Savings earn interest at a rate of 0.20%. However, under Business Premium Savings, balances below $24,000 no longer earn interest. Note that the APY is variable and subject to change.

Account holders with balances over $5 million may earn a different APY. They must contact an Axos Business Banking Relationship Manager at (844) 678-2726 for current rates.

Digital Banking

Customers can perform banking transactions through the Axos website, iOS app, and Android app. The app lets users do the following:

  • Check account balances
  • Review transaction history
  • Transfer funds
  • Pay bills
  • Deposit checks remotely
  • View financial reports

Additional features include a 360-degree financial view report (which places all accounts under one platform to show users their total net worth and spending), fraud monitoring, and investment options.

The mobile app received middling reviews. It has a rating of 4.7 on the App Store[1] (based on around 12,500 reviews) and 3.8 on Google Play[2] (based on approximately 5,500 reviews). Reviewers praised the app for its ease of use, security, and intuitive features. Recent negative reviews mention that the app typically failed to work reliably upon update rollouts. Other users also mentioned slow loading times and issues with check deposit functionality.

Clients can call service representatives through the provider’s 24/7 business banking service hotline at (844) 678-2726. You can call Relationship Managers from Monday to Friday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. PT.

Axos Bank Business Savings Account Reviews From Users

Very few customers have left an Axos Bank Business Savings account review online. Here are its scores on third-party sites:

  • DepositAccounts[3]: 1.5 out of 5 (from nearly 100 reviews)
  • Trustpilot[4]: 2.0 out of 5 (from around 150 reviews)
  • WalletHub[5]: 3.1 out of 5 (from about 1,400 reviews)

Recurring comments include the following:

  • Inefficient transfer system: Customers said that the bank sometimes holds transfers and deposits for as long as 10 business days.
  • Poor quality customer service: The majority of negative reviews said that reaching customer service typically takes hours. They reported that representatives typically lack useful knowledge and are inefficient at providing information.
  • Outdated user interface: Users said that the web platform looked basic and lacked features.
  • Difficult to open business accounts: According to past applicants, the process of opening an account at Axos Bank is typically long and unnecessarily tedious.

Bottom Line

Axos Bank is a good choice for businesses needing larger limits on savings account transactions. It’s also suitable for those wanting to secure large deposits with its expanded FDIC coverage of up to $150 million through IntraFi® Network DepositsSM. However, compared to other online-only banks and fintechs, its savings account has lower interest-earning potential.
