There are a couple of things to consider for partner airlines qualified for the SkyTeam Award, SkyTeam Upgrade Award, and the Non-SkyTeam Award:
SkyTeam Award
- Trips must start and end within the same country.
- You cannot transfer your points for departure and destination cities; therefore, they cannot be visited twice per direction.
- A maximum of two transfers for each direction are allowed between the departure and destination cities.
SkyTeam Upgrade Award
- Cabin upgrades from economy class to business class will be allowed on the condition that the ticket is purchased at nondiscounted fares.
- The upgrade award is applicable to an itinerary that includes one or more international flights. Domestic flights are not permitted. An example of a domestic flight would be flights between cities in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Hawaii.
- When you fly on Korean Air-operated flights, SkyTeam Upgrade is not allowed during Korean Air Award’s peak season.
Non-SkyTeam Award
- All flights on a ticket must be operated by the same partner line.
- There are guidelines on transfers and stopovers for partner airlines eligible for the Non-SkyTeam Award:
- Alaska Airlines and GOL Airlines: Only one stopover is allowed during the entire journey, and transfers are not allowed at the city of departure and destination.
- China Southern Airlines: A maximum of two transfers for each direction are allowed between the departure and destination cities.
- Emirates, Etihad Airways, Hawaiian Airlines, and Japan Airlines: Transfers and/or stopovers are not allowed.
The table below is the list of partner airlines eligible for the SkyTeam Award, SkyTeam Upgrade Award, and the Non-SkyTeam Award:
