Jetpack Workflow is a cloud-based workflow and practice management software solution that helps accounting firms improve the way they manage tasks. It provides the tools you need to organize and manage projects, track time worked by your team, and run payroll with its QuickBooks integration.
With a rating of 4.8 out of 5 on a top review site, many users (including me) find Jetpack Workflow easy to use. On the flip side, its low price tag (from $56 per user, monthly) comes with a trade-off—a limited feature set that may not be suitable for larger firms with complex workflows. Learn if it’s sufficient for your firm in this comprehensive Jetpack Workflow review.

One user who left a positive Jetpack Workflow review commented that the software is dependable and consistent, explaining that it has efficient workflow and data management features. If you need a simple automation tool for your workflows and client and internal data without needing advanced features like customer relationship management (CRM), then we agree that Jetpack Workflow is a great choice.
The reviewer also added that it’s easy to work with Jetpack Workflow’s customer support team. This might be true, but note that the quality of customer support you’ll receive will still depend on the approach of the agent assigned to you.
Additionally, based on older feedback, the platform makes it easy for users to track their team members’ tasks. We can confirm this, as we found the tracking feature very intuitive.
On the flip side, as we’ve noted in our examination, users complained that it has a very limited feature set, making it unsuitable for large-scale firms with advanced requirements. We also came across an older review mentioning the absence of a mobile application—which we believe is one of its biggest drawbacks.

Based on our comparison, Jetpack Workflow stood out in the pricing category, as it’s more affordable and scalable than its competitors. It also did well in customer support because you can contact the provider in different ways, including phone and email and live chat.
Jetpack Workflow’s biggest drawback is its limited accounting practice management feature set. If you prefer a full-featured practice solution, you should consider top Jetpack Workflow alternatives like OfficeTools WorkSpace or TaxWorkFlow.
Jetpack Workflow is more affordable than most other similar software. It is available in two plans, which can be billed monthly or annually. We deducted a few points from the rating because there is a free alternative available—and that is QuickBooks Online Accountant.

Since Jetpack Workflow has few features compared to most competitors, we expect it to receive a lower rating in our evaluation. It lacks some advanced features, like CRM, a client portal, and the ability to directly access clients’ books from the platform. However, it still offers useful tools that help you better manage your team’s accounting tasks and projects.
The job management dashboard allows you to create a new job and track progress until completion. When a new client is added in Jetpack Workflow, you can create a job from scratch or create one from a selected template and assign the job to that client.
To create a new job, select Jobs and then click on the New job button. From the create job screen, you can enter a new job by providing the required information, such as the job name―like interview client or print tax return client―budgeted time, turnaround time, and billing type.

A unique feature of Jetpack Workflow is the ability to create jobs from emails. We believe this feature is incredibly useful if you often receive tasks from your clients through email, whether they are one-off or recurring.
If you receive a task from your client through email, you can convert it to a job easily by forwarding the email to newjob@m.jetpackworkflow.com. For instance, in the screenshot below, I receive an email from my client to print a report. I forward the email to the designated email address, and a job will be created automatically in Jetpack Workflow. I can also include additional texts or attach images to the email, and everything will be forwarded to my desktop account.

The job will then appear in the job list window with a title beginning with “Fwd:”—as shown below.

Note that all time entries in Jetpack Workflow are project-based, meaning you have to create a job first before you can log a new time entry. From the Jobs tab, find the job you want to track time on and then click on the job entry. From within the job profile, you will find the time tracker section, which allows you to either track time using the built-in timer or by manually inputting the number of hours it took you to complete the project.

The built-in calendar in Jetpack Workflow provides an easy way to organize your tasks and stay on top of your deadlines. You can view the calendar by day, week, or month and even see your team’s assignments by jobs or tasks.

A template is a standardized procedure that’s meant to be used repeatedly to create projects across clients. You can apply job templates easily to one or multiple clients. You can use the template builder to create your own template or choose from one of the free templates from Jetpack Workflow’s workflow library.

A popular feature in Jetpack Workflow is the label maker, which allows you to create up to 100 different labels with custom colors to use on jobs your team works on every day. Everyone associated with the job will see the label, and each account is allotted up to seven labels. An example is Missing Information, which helps you to quickly identify any jobs that have this label. Labels don’t reoccur with jobs, and you cannot apply mass labels.
This feature lets you manage recurring clients and tasks, allowing you to duplicate the same job across multiple clients. When you create a job, you can set it up to repeat automatically. You can choose from various recurring schedules, such as daily, weekly, every two weeks, monthly, or every two months.

All processes in the workflow, as well as each employee, can be tracked in real time. You can message your team within the software and keep all your notes in one place. This ensures that all of your employees can stay on task. Jetpack Workflow sends users email digests in the morning and evening automatically, with details of which tasks are due or overdue that day and what work has been completed.
Jetpack Workflow could have done better if it had built-in bookkeeping features that you can use for your firm. While it has built-in project management and financial reporting, the program lacks essential features, like A/P and A/R tools, unless you integrate it with QuickBooks Online.
With Jetpack Workflow, you can create jobs, assign them to team members and clients, and track them until they are completed. When entering a job, you can add relevant details, such as the due date, turnaround time, and expected number of hours needed to complete the job. If the job occurs on a regular basis (e.g., monthly bank reconciliation), then you can set it up as recurring so that you don’t have to enter the details required every time you create the job.
Once the job is created, you can use the built-in time tracking tool to monitor the time it takes to complete the project. As mentioned earlier, for easy access, you can find the time tracker right below the project entry.
If you want to use Jetpack Workflow for your firm’s invoicing and vendor bill management workflows, then you must integrate your account with QuickBooks Online. When integrated with QuickBooks Online, you’ll be able to import your clients, employees, and service items from QuickBooks into Jetpack Workflow. Conversely, you’ll be able to send time entries from Jetpack Workflow to QuickBooks Online for billing and invoicing.
Although reporting is quite basic in Jetpack Workflow, there are a couple of reports available: Progress, Done, and Timesheets. It includes a progress report that allows you to view the status of jobs and tasks during a given time period. It makes it easy for you to track how many jobs are completed and how many are incomplete, due, or overdue.

Jetpack Workflow has a simple and uncluttered interface that’s easy to navigate—even for beginners. What makes it user-friendly is that it has few features, as opposed to complicated software with crowded menus and drop-downs. A minor drawback is that the dashboard is not that customizable, explaining the slight dip in its score.
However, although not customizable, the dashboard gives a good overview of what’s happening in your firm, displaying important information such as jobs due today and jobs overdue.
Jetpack Workflow’s dashboard
I awarded Jetpack Workflow a perfect score because it offers various customer support options, including phone and email support. If you need immediate help, there’s a live chat button in the bottom right-hand corner. According to the website, Jetpack Workflow typically responds within an hour during business hours (Mondays through Fridays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern Time). You can also contact them through email or by phone.
For simple concerns, you can check out Jetpack Workflow’s online knowledge base with plenty of start guides, videos, and FAQs. You even have the option to attend Jetpack Workflow University for free, which consists of seven courses that include videos and quizzes and provide a certificate upon completion.
Note that this perfect score doesn’t necessarily reflect the quality of customer support you’ll get from a particular customer support agent, but rather the diverse avenues available for customer support.
