Medallion Status and Its Benefits

The Medallion Status is Delta’s way of incentivizing SkyMiles members who fly with Delta Air Lines and its partner airlines frequently. Each Medallion Tier—namely Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond—provides additional services and rewards that can make traveling worthwhile.

Delta has streamlined the Medallion Status through its Medallion Qualification Dollars (MQDs). You can earn MQDs through the following:

  • Delta and partner flights: Receive $1 MQD per dollar spent for either a Delta-marketed flight or any of its partner airlines

How To Redeem Delta SkyMiles® Reserve Business American Express Card Rewards

You can use miles toward flights, seat upgrades, car rentals, merchandise, and gift cards. You can redeem your miles by booking travel for Delta-operated and ticketed flights through the Delta SkyMiles online portal. You can opt to pay the remaining balance with your American Express business credit card if your miles aren’t enough.

You can also use your miles on the Delta SkyMiles program, where you can redeem miles for flights to more than 1,000 destinations worldwide. Aside from Delta Air Lines, you can redeem your miles through its partners, such as Air France, KLM, China Eastern, and Korean Air.

  • Trip delay insurance: Secure reimbursement for certain additional expenses purchased on your card―up to $500 per trip―if your trip is delayed for more than six hours. To be eligible, a round trip should be paid for entirely using your American Express credit card. This insurance only covers a maximum of two claims per cardholder within a 12-consecutive-month period.
  • Trip cancellation and interruption insurance: Reimburse the nonrefundable travel expenses purchased with your card if a round-trip is paid for entirely with your card and your trip is interrupted or canceled. Coverage is limited to $10,000 per trip and $20,000 per cardholder per 12-consecutive-month period.
  • Baggage insurance plan: Travel more comfortably knowing you can be covered for lost, damaged, or stolen Baggage when you purchase the Entire Fare for a Common Carrier Vehicle ticket (e.g. plane, train, ship, or bus) on an Eligible Card. Please read important exclusions and restrictions. Not all vehicle types or rentals are covered. Coverage is not available for vehicles rented in Australia, Italy, and New Zealand.   • Purchase protection: Get coverage if purchased items are stolen or damaged within 90 days from the purchase date. Purchase protection covers up to $10,000 per incident and $50,000 per cardholder annually.
  • Extended warranty: Extend the warranty for one additional year on purchased items with warranties of five years or less.
  • Cellphone protection: Get back the costs to repair or replace your damaged or stolen cellphone for a maximum of $800 per claim, with a limit of two approved claims per 12-month period.
