How We Evaluated the JetBlue Business Card
The JetBlue Business Card offers ongoing rewards that compare with some of the best business credit cards. We also considered this JetBlue business credit card’s introductory rewards, annual fees, and additional card features like insurance. It charges an annual fee of $99, and you’ll receive several card perks, including purchase assurance and travel assistance.
In this JetBlue small business credit card review, we considered the following criteria:
- Ongoing rewards: The rewards you’ll earn when you use the JetBlue Business Card. This card pays 6x points on JetBlue purchases, 2x points at restaurants and office supply stores, and 1x on all other purchases.
- Introductory rewards: The introductory reward you can earn by reaching a minimum spending requirement. You can earn 50,000 points after spending $1,000 in the first 90 days and 10,000 points when a purchase is made on an employee card.
- Additional features: Whether the card has additional card benefits and perks. The JetBlue Business Card offers card perks, including a free checked bag, in-flight savings, points rebate, car rental insurance, and travel assistance.
- Annual fee: How much it costs to own the card every year. This card charges an annual fee of $99.
- Introductory annual percentage rate (APR): Whether the card has an introductory 0% APR period. This card does not have an introductory APR.
- Ongoing APR: How much it will cost to finance purchases on your card. The JetBlue Business Card has an ongoing APR between 17.99% and 26.99%.
The JetBlue Business Card does not have an introductory 0% APR period. If you’re looking to finance a purchase or transfer a balance, this co-branded card is not right for you. Instead, consider a 0% APR business credit card. Those cards offer an introductory 0% APR period on purchases and balance transfers for up to 12 months, including American Express Blue Business® Plus (see rates & fees).
How We Evaluate Travel Business Credit Cards
When grading a travel rewards business credit card like the JetBlue Business Card, we weight ongoing rewards, introductory rewards, and additional card benefits heaviest. We also consider the card’s annual fee and introductory and ongoing APRs. Unlike other business travel credit cards, this JetBlue business credit card doesn’t offer a 0% APR introductory period.
We graded the JetBlue Business Card using the following methodology:
Grading Criteria | Card Score | Highest Possible Score |
---|---|---|
Ongoing Rewards | 25 | 25 |
Introductory Rewards | 25 | 25 |
Additional Features | 20 | 25 |
Annual Fee | 14 | 15 |
Introductory APR | 0 | 5 |
Ongoing APR | 2 | 5 |
Based on our 5-star rating system where 20 points equals one star, the JetBlue Business Card would need to improve its APR or additional card features to earn 4.5 stars. In cases where cards receive perfect scores in most categories, we may award bonus points to boost the card’s rating.
Despite the card’s strong rewards structure, our grade of 4 stars is appropriate because this card lacks an introductory APR and has a high ongoing APR. There are other travel credit cards that offer an introductory APR.
Who the JetBlue Business Card Is Right For
The JetBlue Business Card is best for business owners who frequently fly with JetBlue Airways. You’ll earn ongoing rewards on everyday spending like JetBlue purchases that you can redeem for free airfare. This card is especially beneficial to owners who check a bag as it offers a free checked bag for you and up to three companions on the same reservation.
Alternatives to JetBlue Business Card
Other travel credit cards offer larger introductory bonuses and luxury travel perks than the JetBlue Business Card. For example, you can find cards that have introductory rewards worth up to $1,000 in travel or unlimited access to airport lounges. Plus, if you don’t fly JetBlue regularly, you might want to try other airline affiliated travel credit cards.

JetBlue Business Card Costs
The JetBlue Business Card charges an annual fee of $99 and ongoing APR starting at 17.99%. This card also charges no foreign transaction fees, which makes it an ideal choice if you’re traveling outside of the United States. The foreign locations JetBlue flies to include Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America, and South America.
Financing costs and fees on this JetBlue business credit card include:
- Introductory APR: None
- Ongoing APR: 17.99% to 26.99%, which changes with the prime rate
- Annual fee: $99
- Balance transfer fee: $5 or 3% of the amount of each transfer, whichever is greater
- Foreign transaction fee: None
- Cash advance fee: $10 or 3%, whichever is greater (cash advance APR is 27.24%)
- Late payment fee: $19 for account balances less than $250; $39 for account balances of at least $250
- Returned payment fee: $39
- Penalty APR: None
The JetBlue Business Card does not offer an introductory 0% APR period on purchases or balance transfers. This card is not right for you if you’re looking to transfer a balance. If you want to make a balance transfer, consider a balance transfer business credit card. Those cards offer no interest for up to 12 months on balance transfers.
How to Avoid Paying Interest on the JetBlue Business Card
To avoid interest on the JetBlue Business Card, you must pay off your balance within 20 days of the close of each billing period. Some business credit cards have longer payment windows. For example, most American Express business credit cards require that you pay your balance within 25 days of the close of each billing period.
JetBlue Business Card Rewards
The JetBlue Business Card offers up to 50,000 bonus points after you spend $1,000 within the first three months and when your company makes a purchase on an employee card. Plus, this card pays up to 6x points on travel-related spending. These are some of the strongest ongoing rewards among travel credit cards.
Introductory Rewards
The JetBlue Business Card offers the following introductory rewards:
- 40,000 bonus points after spending $1,000 within the first three months
- 10,000 bonus points when a purchase is made on an employee card within the first 90 days
- 5,000 bonus points every year after your account anniversary
If you earn 50,000 bonus points, this reward is worth at least $500. In comparison, Chase Ink Business PreferredSM offers 80,000 bonus points after spending $5,000 within three months, which is worth up to $1,000 in travel. The JetBlue Business Card’s spending requirement is $4,000 less than this Chase business credit card.
To earn 10,000 bonus points from an employee’s purchase, you must add the employee card at the time of the application or within the first 30 days. Additionally, the employee’s purchase must be made within the first 90 days. We haven’t reviewed any other business credit cards that offer this type of reward.
Ongoing Rewards
The JetBlue Business Card offers the following ongoing rewards:
- 6x points on JetBlue purchases
- 2x points at restaurants and office supply stores
- 1x points on all other purchases
This JetBlue business credit card pays top rewards when you compare it to other travel credit cards. For example, the American Express Business Platinum Card® pays 5x points on travel spending through American Express Travel and 1x points on all other purchases. That card lacks other bonus categories like the JetBlue Business Card offers.
Rewards Restrictions
The JetBlue Business Card won’t give rewards for the following:
- Balance transfers
- Cash advances
- Traveler’s checks
- Fees associated with the card
- Interest charges
- Unauthorized or fraudulent purchases
Any JetBlue points you earn won’t expire. However, if you close your account, you forfeit any points you have not yet redeemed. Rewards restrictions are common across all business credit cards.
How You Can Redeem Your Rewards
You can redeem your JetBlue points for free airfare. The number of points you need for a JetBlue flight depends on the fare. The number of points will vary based on the time of booking, the flight you choose, and peak travel periods. You are held responsible for any taxes and fees that apply to a flight.
When you book a flight through JetBlue’s website, you’re able to toggle between viewing that fare as points or dollars. We looked at flights from Los Angeles to New York and found one-way fares for as low as 20,200 points or $219, which makes each point worth 1.08 cents. You may need to use more points depending on the flight.
JetBlue Business Card Additional Features
The JetBlue Business Card offers several additional card features, including a free checked bag, savings on in-flight purchases, reward redemption bonus, car rental insurance, purchases assurance, and extended warranty protection. However, this JetBlue business credit card offers fewer features than other issuers, including American Express. That issuer also offers global assistance hotlines, return protection, and baggage insurance.
Also unlike other issuers, Barclays does not disclose benefit details until you receive your card. We’ll show you the types of benefits you’ll receive, but for coverage levels and exceptions, you’ll need to review the guide for benefits you’ll receive upon approval.
Free First Checked Bag
You and three companions traveling on the same reservation using your JetBlue Business Card can check one bag for free each way. Because JetBlue charges $30 for the first checked bag, this perk is worth up to $240 per round-trip flight. Several other credit cards that are affiliated with airlines offer free first checked bags. The United MileagePlus® Club Business Card is one of the few cards that offers two free checked bags.
Business credit cards unaffiliated with airlines don’t offer free checked bag benefits. However, some may offer annual travel credits that you can use to offset airline fees. For example, the American Express Business Platinum Card® offers a $200 annual airline fee credit, which is available on one qualifying carrier per year.
50% In-flight Savings on Food and Drink Purchases
You’ll save 50% on in-flight purchases of food and drinks, including cocktails, beer, wine, and meals. These savings do not apply to any other in-flight purchases, such as pillows, earphones, or upgraded seats and cabins. Your savings will appear as a statement credit four to six weeks after your transaction posts to your account.
Other credit cards affiliated with airlines may offer in-flight savings. However, most fall short of this JetBlue business credit card. The American Express Delta Reserve® for Business Credit Card, for example, offers a 20% savings in the form of a statement credit on prepurchased meals, and in-flight purchases of food, alcoholic beverages, and audio headsets.
10% Points Back After Taking Award Flights
With JetBlue’s award flight redemption bonus, you’ll receive 10% of your points back as a bonus after you redeem for and travel on a JetBlue award flight. For example, if you redeem 20,000 points for a flight, you’ll receive 2,000 of those points back after you take the flight. There is no maximum number of bonus points you can receive annually with this benefit.
Credit cards unaffiliated with airlines may also offer a similar benefit. For example, the American Express® Business Gold Card offers 25% points back after you use points for all or part of an eligible flight booked with American Express Travel. You can only receive up to 250,000 points back per year compared to the JetBlue Business Card, which has no limit.
JetBlue Vacations Package $100 Statement Credit
For each calendar year that you purchase a JetBlue Vacations package of $100 or more with your card on JetBlue’s website, you’ll receive a $100 statement credit. To be eligible, your account must remain open, active, and in good standing. Your savings will appear as a statement credit six to eight weeks after your transaction posts to your account.
Few business credit cards offer annual travel credits. However, the ones that do typically offer a larger statement credit. For example, the American Express Business Platinum Card® offers a $200 annual airline fee credit.
Vehicle Rental Insurance
When you rent a car using your JetBlue business credit card, you’ll receive primary collision and damage waiver insurance for eligible car rentals up to 30 days. Primary coverage replaces any insurance the rental company may offer and your own personal insurance. You’ll need to refer to the benefits guide to learn about coverage levels and exclusions.
Purchase Assurance
When you purchase an item with your JetBlue Business Card, it’s protected from theft and damage for the first 90 days from purchase. You’ll need to refer to the benefits guide to learn about coverage levels and exclusions. There are several credit cards unaffiliated with airlines that offer purchase protection. For example, Chase Ink Business PreferredSM protects purchases from theft and damage for the first 120 days compared to 90 days.
Extended Warranty Protection
According to Barclays’ website, when you use your JetBlue Business Card, the issuer doubles the warranty on most new purchases for up to one year. You’ll need to refer to the benefits guide to learn about coverage levels and which purchases apply. Most business credit cards offer extended warranty protection. The American Express Platinum Delta SkyMiles® Business Credit Card, for example, offers up to an additional two years of coverage on warranties of five years or less.
Travel Assistance
This JetBlue business credit card provides complimentary travel assistant services. Before any trip, you can request detailed travel requirements including passport and visa restrictions, required and recommended immunization information, and currency exchange rates. If you have a travel emergency and need cash, you can arrange to transfer up to $5,000 from a family member, friend, or business account. You’ll need to refer to the benefits guide to learn more about the services this benefit offers.
Other credit cards unaffiliated with airlines also offer travel assistance services. Chase Ink Business CashSM, for example, provides travel, emergency, medical, and legal assistance 24 hours a day to the cardholder, their spouse, and dependent children age 22 years old or younger. However, this is a concierge service, so the cardholder is responsible for the cost of any goods or services.
Adding JetBlue Business Card Employee Cards
You can issue unlimited JetBlue Business Card employee credit cards at no additional cost. Most business credit cards offer free employee cards, even if the primary card charges an annual fee. With JetBlue employee business credit cards, you can control how much credit each can access and set a single purchase limit for individual employees.
Plus, on this JetBlue business credit card, you can earn 10,000 bonus points when a purchase is made on an employee card within the first 90 days
What the JetBlue Business Card Is Missing
The JetBlue Business Card has a high ongoing APR and doesn’t offer an introductory 0% APR period. This isn’t a good card if you need to carry a balance or make a balance transfer from a card with interest. Instead, we recommend a 0% APR business credit card like the U.S. Bank Business Platinum. That card offers no-interest financing for 12 months on purchases and balance transfers, and it’s ongoing APR is about six percentage points lower.
JetBlue Business Card Reviews
Online reviews for this JetBlue business credit card are mostly positive. Cardholders say they especially enjoy the rewards they earn on JetBlue purchases and the free checked baggage feature. Some users complain about the annual fee. However, that can be offset through this card’s large introductory offer worth up to $1,020 in travel.
